Low Self-Esteem & Trauma
Does you relate to these statements?
I know that I'm mean to myself, but I just can't stop the self-criticism
I have a hard time being kind or forgiving towards myself
I never feel that anything I do is ever “good enough”
I beat myself up for not being productive
I find myself second-guessing the decisions I make
I don't believe people who give me compliments
I compare myself to others and feel like they are more important, valuable, and well-liked than I am
I have a hard time telling people "no", and end up committed to things I don’t want to do
I feel like I’m “skating on thin ice” and am worried if I make a mistake I’ll lose a friend, partner, or job
I still have nightmares about being bullied by classmates or siblings, being shamed by parents or teachers, or being hurt by friendships/romantic relationships ending
I know it may seem impossible, but I can help you feel better about yourself.
These are the steps we'll take to improve your self-esteem:
I'll teach you new skills to compartmentalize unhelpful self-talk and regulate your emotions.
We'll take a look at past experiences that led to your negative beliefs about yourself. We'll use therapy techniques to let go of the negative thoughts and feelings associated with these memories and refocus on your strengths and accomplishments.
We'll use your newfound self-esteem to set boundaries using assertiveness. You'll be able to ask for what you need in relationships and find yourself feeling fulfilled.
