Nature Nurtures: The Philadelphia area therapist walking group
 
In 2023, I started Nature Nurtures- a monthly walking group open to all therapists in the Philadelphia area. Part self-care, part networking, this group aims to help therapists connect with one another while spending time in the great outdoors.  Below are some answers to FAQs.   • Are you accepting new clients?
    No, unfortunately I don't have any openings for new clients at this time. If you would like to be added to my wait list, please contact me.
  • When are you available for appointments?
    I see clients on Tuesdays between 12:30-6, Wednesdays between 12-6, Thursdays between 12-6, and Fridays between 11-1. I don't currently have any openings in my schedule, but when I do they'll be during these hours. I don't see clients in the evenings or on weekends.
  • What types of issues do you treat?
    I specialize in helping people with anxiety, low self-esteem, and relational trauma. ​ This means that if you have anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, PTSD, complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, or are an adult child of a narcissist or emotionally immature parent, we may work well together. ​ If you have questions about working together on an issue not listed here, please reach out! I'm happy to see if I can help or if I know of a therapist who would be a good fit for you.
  • I'm not in my 20s or 30s- can we still work together?
    Absolutely! If you're at least 17 years old and I treat an issue you'd like help with, please reach out for a free consultation.
  • Are your appointments online or in person?
    All of my sessions are conducted online via a secure teletherapy platform. You don't have to factor in extra commute time, pay for parking, or leave the comfort of your own home!
  • I'm ready to get help! How do I become a new client?
    The first step is to schedule a free consultation so that we can get to know each other and decide whether we're a good fit.
  • What happens during the free consultation?
    The free consultation is about 20 minutes long. We'll briefly discuss the issues you'd like to address in therapy along with your goals. We'll talk about what qualities you're looking for in a therapist and I'll share about my approach to therapy. If you have questions about working together the consultation is a great time to ask. If you decide to work together, I'll send you some initial paperwork to complete electronically prior to scheduling our first therapy session.
  • What will my first therapy session look like?
    Your first appointment will be 55 minutes long. We'll start by reviewing the initial paperwork you completed in your client portal. Then, we'll discuss the issues you've been experiencing and your goals for therapy in greater detail than we were able to during the consultation. We'll collaborate to create a plan of how we'll address your issues throughout our work together. I'll suggest skills for you to work on, or share resources for you to look at, if appropriate. At the end, we'll check in about how our first appointment together felt before confirming our next appointment.
  • What is your therapeutic approach?
    I am a relational therapist. This means that I view our therapeutic relationship as a tool for healing. If we can develop a secure, safe, supportive relationship based on trust, authenticity, and open communication- that is where the magic happens. The resources I offer come Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dr. McBride's 5 step recovery model for survivors of narcissistic abuse.
  • How often should I come in for therapy?
    When starting our work together, I strongly recommend meeting weekly for at least one month. This helps us establish a trusting and secure relationship more quickly. It also helps you learn and implement new skills more quickly so that you see faster progress. After you're able to maintain progress you're happy with, we can decrease the frequency of our sessions to bi-weekly appointments if you choose to do so. EMDR therapy works best on a weekly basis. I do not see clients less frequently than bi-weekly. From my experience, it's difficult to do the deep healing work my practice is based on when were meeting less frequently than every other week.
  • How do I get the best results with therapy?
    I’ve found that clients see the best and fastest results when they're consistent with therapy appointments and open to trying new things. Being motivated to work on yourself outside of therapy through self reflection and practicing new skills helps with progress as well. I'll help you be successful by giving you exercises to practice on your own between our sessions.
  • How much are therapy sessions? Do you offer a sliding scale?
    My sessions are 50 minutes long and cost $165. Reduced rates are available for current clients who are experiencing financial difficulty due to a change in their financial situation (i.e. loss of a job). In these circumstances, reduced rates are offered for a 3-6 month period, after which we will return to full rate. ​ If you are the survivor of sexual assault, sexual abuse, or another crime that occurred in PA, the Victim's Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP) can provide financial support of up to $10,000 to help pay for therapy.   • Do you accept insurance?
    I am not in network with any insurance companies. ​ If you would like to submit bills to your insurance company for potential reimbursement through your out of network benefits, I can provide you with a statement at the end of each month. Because I understand that the world of insurance can be very difficult to navigate, I am happy to call your insurance on your behalf to find out about your out of network benefits.
  • How do I know if my insurance will reimburse me for our sessions?
    To learn more about the possibility of being reimbursed for our appointments through your out of network benefits, I recommend calling the "member services" phone number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following questions: Do I have out of network benefits? What is my out of network deductible? This is the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance starts to reimburse you. What is my out of network coinsurance? This is the percentage your insurance will pay after your deductible is met. What is my out of network out of pocked maximum? This is the maximum amount of your own money you will pay When does my deductible renew? Keep in mind that your insurance likely will not tell you the exact amount they will reimburse for our sessions. Also be aware that reimbursement can take several weeks or months to process.
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
    I accept credit, debit, HSA, and FSA cards.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
    No I do not. If you choose to work together, your card will be charged after each appointment.
